Time: 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM EST
Registration: Register Now
Event Description:
The Chamber is delighted to host this informative workshop in collaboration with Chamber member Jennifer Karchmer, CEO and Owner of Over the Shoulder Editorial.

Do you consider yourself a wordsmith? Are you good at finding typos? Do you play Wordle? How about crossword puzzles?

Words are important to every business. Whether it’s through signage, flyers, brochures, campaigns, posters, business cards, websites, the About Us page, email blasts, blogs, articles or social media, we are always communicating.

In this 60-minute in-person workshop, Jennifer will:
  1. Give you a step-by-step process to help ensure your digital and print communications are professional and typo-free.
  2. Provide self-editing and proofreading techniques that you can apply to all of your writing projects, including social media posts.
  3. Show you real-life examples of communications gone wrong so you can avoid common mistakes and boost your credibility and bottom-line.

You will:
  • gain practical advice to share with your in-house proofreading and marketing folks (if you have an in-house team)
  • learn writing and editing techniques to apply to your writing and promotions
  • have fun with words.
A light breakfast with baked goods, coffee and tea will be provided beginning at 8:30 a.m. so folks can socialize before the workshop begins promptly at 9:15 am. There will also be a few giveaways (gift cards to local businesses)!

Jennifer is the owner and CEO of Over the Shoulder Editorial—a member of the Tompkins Chamber since October 2022.
