Main Functions:
The Education Assistant Intern supports the Sciencenter’s mission and enhances the public experience through the delivery of interactive programs, hands-on science activities, and demonstrations. All staff and interns are expected to contribute to a culture that supports equity, inclusion, diversity, and access through their work at the Sciencenter.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Facilitate guest interactions and provide interpretation with live exhibits. Live exhibits include marine inhabitants in the tide pool touch tank and teaching animals such as reptiles and lizards 
  • Assist with the supervision of summer campers and summer camp activity preparation 
  • Facilitate and deliver programs to summer campers 
  • Answer basic visitor questions and offer an inclusive, welcoming, approachable presence on the museum floor 
  • Facilitate activities and demonstrations in the galleries

Time Commitment and Stipend
This opportunity is offered to students for 400 hours of internship work. The stipend is $8,200 and supported through the generosity of NASA. We anticipate that interns would start on or around June 9th, wrapping up the 10-week internship on or around August 21st, prior to resuming classes. Individual summer and weekly schedules will be determined by Sciencenter open hours, and will include one weekend day per week. To complete the hiring process, candidates will be required to pass a background check and must be a US citizen.
